Hulme Bridge Ferry success..............
RTG was concerned about a footpath that is the access, on the Trafford side of the Manchester ship canal, to the Hulme Bridge Ferry jetty. The ferry jetty is close to the Davyhulme Millenium Nature Reserve and there is a public footpath from Daresbury Avenue to the ferry jetty. On the other side of the canal there is also a network of public footpaths. Due to public pressure and the influence of the Ramblers the free ferry was reinstated and is available to all - be it on a restricted timetable mainly at weekends. RTG have since led walks using the ferry to access Barton and Irlam moss. For more information please contact the Footpath Secretary, June Mabon.
