WALKS CLASSIFICATION;

Easy; short, gentle walks suitable for most people (E)
Leisurely; walks mainly on rural, unsurfaced paths with some sustained ascents/descents. Reasonable fitness required. (L)
Moderate; walks may be over rough terrain with steep ascents/descents. For those with a good level of fitness. (M)
Strenuous; physically demanding walks suitable for experienced walkers with above average fitness level. (S)
Technical; walks where additional equipment or skills may be required, e.g headtorch, compass, OS maps etc. (T)

The walk takes us along the River Goyt then ascends to Laneside Rd via Shedyard Clough to follow the track to New Allotments and then a ridge walk before descending to Birch Vale. A further climb via the Pennine Bridleway the route then passes Weathercoates, Aspenshaw Hall and Broadhurst Edge plantation before dropping to the car park via the Goyt Way.

Sunday 24 July 2016 - Eddisbury Hill & Kelshaw Castle hillforts

The walk takes us up to Old Pale where we may get good views of the seven old counties. We follow the path to Eddisbury Hill to the remains of the Hillfort. We then walk to the remains of Kelsborrow Castle returning via woodland and Primrose Hill.

The walk starts on the canal, crosses fields and climbs steadily to the top of Bosley Cloud. The descent is to the River Dane and back along the canal. good paths and a few stiles.

The final walk on the 32 mile Witton Weavers Way. This section has a few climbs, especially at the start, with generally good paths and
tracks through fields and woodland. We will make a detour to Houghton Tower for a leisurely lunch (bring your own or eat in the cafe)
and a look around the grounds.

a Baptist preacher who  died in 1709 and is commemorated by local walkers.
The walk continues to Edgworth and Turton Bottoms returning to the car park beside Jumbles Reservoir,

This is a relatively flat walk with a couple of slopes and a few stiles.
